Learning Made Fun
The curiosity and the willingness to learn of a child is on a whole different level
compared with adults and teens. They will ask a question every time they encounter something they are not familiar with, and they will also explore every nook and cranny. The Leapster Explorer can help your child learn a lot of new things while letting him have fun while he is at it.
This is one of the things that makes the gadget great because it stimulates your child’s brain to continue learning more and more. If you notice, children tend to easily get bored inside a classroom because most of the activities that they do are a bit one dimensional. You can let them read a book with fancy pictures all day long, but they will eventually grow weary of it. However, making them play games with an educational theme is much different. The key here is interaction.
You see, the more fun a child has while doing a certain activity then the more willing he will be to learn from it. Parents will certainly be overjoyed when they see their little ones learn some useful things from a portable gaming console.
Take for example having your little one trying to learn math. We all know that mathematics is probably one of the most hated subjects in the world. Children will not be easily convinced to learn math unless they are given something that can really motivate them. This is where the fun factor of the Leapster Explorer comes into play because your child can learn how to hone his math skills while playing a game. Imagine playing a game of Sonic the Hedgehog wherein your objective is to find the right numbers in order for you to proceed to the next level. Now who wouldn’t want to learn about numbers with the popular blue hedgehog himself?
You see, the more fun a child has while learning, then the more he will come back to improve his skills again and again. Leapster can provide that and give your little ones some education in a very enjoyable manner.
Touch Screen
If there is one feature that has been dominating the world of hi-tech gadgets then it has to be the touch screen interface. Leapfrog has certainly taken educational gaming to a whole new level by letting the Explorer have touch screen capabilities. Going beyond the usual directional pads and face buttons will help your child interact and familiarize himself with the gadget more.
Familiarizing himself with the touch screen features of the Leapster Explorer will let your child improve his motor ability with regards to his accuracy and hand dexterity. This also helps them prepare for the use of hi tech gadgets like the iPhone and touch screen computers.
It also comes with a stylus so that your child can easily select the options displayed on the screen. This will really give your children a learning experience that is truly interactive. The stylus also allows them to work on their handwriting at an early age. The Explorer has a game wherein your child is taught how to properly write the letters of the alphabet by using his stylus. If he makes an error, then the game will help the child by making him write the letter again until he finally gets it right. Parents will surely have a huge grin on their faces once they see how their kids’ handwriting have improved all thanks to a toy.
Downloadable Leaplets
The learning experience can be kept fresh by downloading apps called “Leaplets” from the internet. These apps include new games, activities, and even e-books. Downloading new content into the Explorer is just as easy as trying to download them into your iPhone. Plus, the downloading time is relatively quick so you don’t have to blow a gasket complaining about slow download speed.
Monitoring Your Child’s Progress
Since it is an educational toy, parents will be more than anxious to learn how their children are doing with their games. The Leapster Explorer allows you to continuously monitor your child’s progress and performance online. This can be done by simply creating an account after you connect it to your PC for the first time. This nifty little feature is called the Learning Path and it allows you to see specific details of your child’s performance such as games played, skills developed, and areas where they need improvement. This is exactly the kind of feature we need to help parents get over their doubts about games being bad for children.
